3.Aims
- To develop an appreciation of the heritage of Emo Court
- To understand the unique characteristics of Emo Court
- To celebrate a significant local historical site
- To combine a number of different learning experiences in this
project
4.Objectives
- Students will research an aspect of Emo Court’s history or environment
- Based on this research, students will produce an item of
artwork
- Based on this research also, students will produce a booklet, either
as an individual – 1000 words minimum, or in groups of three - 2000 words minimum
- Students will present in another format of their choosing an
item/article of video, drama, music, website, photography, or any other
medium
- Students will develop their self-directed learning skills and
will work on this project in their own time also

- Field trips to house and grounds
- Presentations by guides and local historians
- Class discussions
- Research methodologies such as library, internet, literature
- Teacher-led discussions
- Video presentation

- In addition, possibly role play, debates, essay-writing, poetry

- The inhabitants of Emo Court
- Georgian architecture with reference to Emo Court
- Interior design and the house
- Flora and fauna at Emo Court
- Father Browne and his photographs
- How people lived through the ages

Assessment
- Reflective Diary – students will keep a diary of their
experience and will evaluate the experience
- Interview (possibly in group format)
- Exhibition
